NBC San Diego and The San Diego Union-Tribune recently reported on a major boat collision that occurred on October 26^th, approximately nine miles off the coast, near Mexico’s maritime border at around 7:50 p.m. The accident involved the Attessa IV, which is a 332-foot super yacht, and the Prowler, a 65-foot sports fishing boat. Sources say the Attessa IV crashed into the sports fishing boat, “causing extensive damage to [its] starboard quarter.” The impact also left the Prowler disabled and several passengers onboard suffering from critical injuries. Sources stated that the Prowler was said to have had 29 people on board at the time of the collision. Read more

What started out as a day like any other ended with tragedy and despair. Maria Veronica Solis Munoz’s two sons had gone to school as usual and when their day there was completed, the three of them began walking back to their home. As the family made their way down the sidewalk in Boyle Heights, a Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy came crashing into them along with other pedestrians that had been walking close by. As a result of the impact, Munoz’s sons, seven-year-old Jose Luis Hernandez and nine-year-old Marcos Hernandez, were killed and several others sustained injuries. Read more

The Bird and Lime shared electric scooters have stirred up a significant amount of controversy over the last few months as many have become worried that the “latest urban trend” is going to lead to riders and others nearby to them sustaining severe injuries. In fact, serious injuries have already been reported involving the scooters, although NBC San Diego says there are no government mandates to track scooter accidents that occur. Read more

Two good Samaritans were able to rescue a woman from her vehicle after she had been involved in a wreck on State Route 163. Fox 5 San Diego reported that on Tuesday, September 18^th, a box truck rear-ended a 2006 Toyota Highlander which pushed the SUV into several other vehicles that had been stopped in rush hour traffic. The Highlander then went off the roadway and caught fire. Luckily, a U.S. Marine that had been traveling nearby noticed the driver was still inside the vehicle. She was trapped. Read more
