YouTube Star “McSkillet” Crashes McLaren Into Another Vehicle in San Diego Killing Himself as Well as Both Occupants Inside
A tragic wrong-way accident occurred in San Diego on August 23rd that was responsible for taking the life of a mother, her daughter, and a YouTube star [Source: Fox 5 San Diego]. The accident also left multiple vehicles that had been traveling on I-805 damaged, destroyed, and some even in flames. Fox 5 San Diego reported that 18-year-old Trevor Heitmann of Carmel Valley initiated the crash after he began driving in his black McLaren 650S the wrong way on the interstate.
Upon driving in the wrong direction on the northbound side of I-805 with his sports car, he crashed into a Hyundai SUV which then caused eight more vehicles to collide near Miramar Road. Two of the vehicles caught fire while others were struck in the midst of the accident. Because of the severity of the accident, traffic heading north on I-805 was stopped for several hours while police and clean-up crews worked to clear the scene.
The Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that Heitmann was one of the victims who did not survive the crash along with the occupants of the Hyundai. Inside that car was 43-year-old Aileen Pizarro and 12-year-old Aryana Pizarro. Another person involved in the wreck sustained injuries and was transported to an area hospital.
Police Confirm Heitmann Had Been Involved in Two Wrecks Prior to Causing this Multiple Vehicle Pileup
Prior to this fatal accident that cost Heitmann his life, he apparently engaged in two other incidents earlier that afternoon. Police say they first responded to the teen’s home located on Sea Knoll Court after his father called 911. He told officials his son sped away from the house and hit another family car in the process. Shortly after that incident, the source says a black McLaren “smashed through a gate at Ashley Falls Elementary School in Carmel Valley.” Witnesses to this accident say they saw the driver of the vehicle get out and then smash a window on the school building. He then got back into his vehicle and sped out of the school parking lot.
While it hasn’t yet been confirmed what caused Heitmann to drive erratically, the series of events that occurred before the fatal crash on I-805 indicate he may have been upset or angry.
After learning of the fatal crash, his peers at La Jolla Country Day School, say they were both “shocked and saddened to learn about the death of a peer.” Heitmann became extremely popular among YouTube viewers and went by the name of “McSkillet.” Many knew him for playing a video game called “Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.” His YouTube channel had approximately 900,000 subscribers so he was known by many across the world. After developing a following online, Heitmann uploaded a video back in December 2017 where he talked about his black McLaren 650S and said, “beats just about every other car in a drag race.”
The truth is, we don’t know whether Heitmann was upset or simply made a wrong turn, what we do know is that driving while angry or even frustrated can lead to a tragic accident that cannot be undone.
